Reel Herstory: The Real Story of Reel Women (Alley Acker, 2014) is a documentary hosted by Jodie Foster which uses rare footage and exclusive interviews with filmmakers to correct the notion that women have been peripheral in film history, restoring them to their pioneering status.
The screening was introduced by film critic and broadcaster, Anna Smith and independent scholar Dr. Tuna Erdem who talked about how the film resonates with the current debates on the place of women in the film industry, from the Me Too Movement to the red carpet protest of women at the latest Cannes Film Festival.
